(1854-1921) German born prince and member of the UK's Royal Navy, who served aboard Queen Victoria's yacht and married Victoria's granddaughter, Princess Victoria of Hesse. Their four children included the future Mountbatten of Burma. Louis adopted the more British sounding surname 'Mountbatten' in 1917. This item is an early, partly printed document, signed with his original name, Louis Battenberg. It is one page, measures 12.75x7.75 and is dated October 6, 1897. It has a few folds and creases, as well as wrinkles and light soiling and handling wear.
